    August 25, 2014 – Ticket created

Ticket created. The CSR (Mauricio) explained to me the Standard RMA procedures and the Advance RMA procedure. Since I was a loyal Western Digital customer, they offered to pay shipping for the defective drive back to them which I gladly accepted. I also opted for the Advance RMA option.

  • How to Setup Failover Servers with voip.ms using an Obihai OBi110

Recently, one of the voip.ms servers (Chicago) was experiencing high packet loss. As a result, my analog telephone adapter (ATA) was unable to register with their server which, in turn, resulted in our home phone connection going down.

After doing some Googling, I’ve found that it’s possible to set up failover servers in the Obi110 (credit goes to: obiliving). Please note that this only solves OUTGOING calls. If the point of presence (POP) for your phone number goes down, there’s nothing you can do until voip.ms redirects traffic from that server. You could potentially change your phone number’s POP to a different server but that would involve utilizing their API or logging into their Portal area to change it manually. (more…)

  • Have you ever saved someone’s life?

    posted by mdr-fqr87 in r/AskReddit

I’m still somewhat just blankly staring at this email I just got. Reading it over and over again. I know many won’t get the same feeling from it, but if you were there, knew the person, and understood what he was going through at the time and how he expressed himself… it’s as if everything clicks into place and makes sense.

For background info, I did an AMA a while back on travelling around spontaneously with no travel plans. I mentioned in that last one I was leaving for another trip in the upcoming week.

That trip occured this past July, and during it, I decided to hop on a random cruise ship to Croatia where I met this guy.

We talked and after hearing how I had no place to go when I reached there, he invited me onto his boat/yacht. Over the course of a 2 days, we sailed around the Adriatic Islands on his private boat, drank beer and just talked. After we docked back into the marina, we said our goodbyes and the only contact I had with him was a single email thanking him for his hospitality.

This morning, I received this email.

I still have no idea how to reply or respond to this, but its shocking to know that even the smallest gesture makes the biggest difference in someone’s life.

This year’s North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament was held in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) from September 1st to 3rd.

Building off of my last post about my Canada Day photos, I’m still learning how to become a better photographer. It’s tough, sometimes, to be a player and want to take photos at the same time. Maybe someone should just attach a GoPro to their head and record volleyball matches. =D

    Day 1: 197
    Day 2: 276
    Day 3: 364
